Music seems so silly sometimes. The world is crumbling before our very eyes, and I’m supposed to go weak in the knees over a band?

Guess it’s one of those days.

I’ve decided to start posting MP3s here. that’s what real bloggers do, right?

Here’s one:

Uriah Heep – “Return to Fantasy”

Dragons, carnival organs and tremulous vocals. Can’t beat it.

Got something to say?

  1. Depends… if the band is the Police, yes. Fuck the world. But only Police B-sides, like “Darkness” or “Oh My God”. If you play “Roxanne” the world will continue crumbling. Besides, the world is always crumbling.

  2. As the Police themselves said, “When the world is running down, you make the best of what’s still around.”

  3. A young friend of mine recently confessed, “I haven’t enjoyed live music as much since I met you.”I replied that he shouldn’t let my world weary cynicism affect his enjoyment of life, closing with the old Yoda chestnut, “Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.”I wonder if Frank Oz knew the lasting affect those words would have!Anyway, MGP — you’ll have to swing by the new place when I get a spare moment, which certainly won’t be this weekend!

  4. Music is the pain relief for dealing with the world. Not taking your Advil doesn’t make you heal any faster. Go ahead and enjoy music. Ignoring the joy of music isn’t going to make the world a better place.
