Did somebody say “break a leg”? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. It is so, so not funny that poor Malachy McCourt, who’s been playing the character of the Old Man in Vermont Stage Company’s current run of Prelude to a Kiss, actually did break his leg. In two places, requiring surgery, we hear. Yikes!
I’ve never understood why theater people say that, anyway. What’s the matter with “good luck”? But I digress.
For the rest of the run — through May 10 — director and VSC head Mark Nash will fill in for McCourt. Talk about a quick study. You can read more about the play (and find out about a chance to win free tix) here, and check out Elisabeth Crean’s review in Seven Days here.
Our condolences to Mr. M, and best wishes to Nash. Break … er, hang in there!
