The Waitsfield-born theater genius wrote the music, lyrics and book for the smash musical Suffs and became the first woman to nab Tony Awards for best book and best score in the same season.

Ukraine’s Grand Kyiv Ballet presents back-to-back performances of haunting 19th-century masterpiece Giselle at the Flynn Main Stage in Burlington and Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph. World-class dancers bring to life the tragic story of a peasant girl who falls in love with an incognito nobleman, hallmarked by breathtaking choreography, ethereal costumes and a soaring score.

This ain’t your grandma’s Shakespeare! Montréal’s Centaur Theatre presents Goblin: Macbeth, a participatory reimagining of the Bard’s blood-soaked tragedy. Three goblins bust through the fourth wall to take audiences on an irreverent roller-coaster ride of chaos and surprise. CBC Arts calls it “an anarchic, interactive and wildly playful take” on the tale of betrayal and madness.
