DIY filmmakers, start your, er, cameras. The Vermont Arts Council and Vermont Film Commission have teamed up to create a Home Video Contest open to all residents. Here’s the hitch: They don’t want videos from your home, exactly. They want you to go outside, fishing, hiking, biking, or whatever, and find footage — no more than two minutes’ worth — that will “create a ‘buzz’ around this year’s Vermont Days Celebration on June 9-10, and . . . generate ideas and raw material to inform and promote future Vermont Days Celebrations.” Hmm, seems like a sly way to get Vermont a lot of free online coverage. In fact, entrants must post their video — or two or three — on YouTube.com or Googlevideo.com and email the link to send the link to the VAC by midnight on July 14.
