VIDEO: “A Nice Little Snowstorm”
It’s been snowing here in the Burlington area since this morning. That’s on top of the 6 inches or so that we got on Friday. The roads are a mess, and it’s still coming down. Here’s a video of the storm that I found on YouTube. Looks like this dude is in Colchester.
Holiday Break
Happy Holidays, Blurt fans! It’s been quite a year, what with Karl Lagerfeld moving to Vermont, and Burton putting out those controversial snowboards, and the bitter hipster kickball debate of aught eight. The Seven Days staff typically takes a break over the holidays — we produce two issues in one week in the middle of…
More Media News — From St. Mike’s
In an attempt to give students a taste of what it’s really like in a newsroom, journalism professors at St. Michael’s College in Colchester are trying a new, unprecedented teaching technique — they’re laying off their students. This year the kids are getting pink slips instead of report cards. Ha! Kidding. The profs are making…
Student Media Consolidation at SMC
St. Michael’s College is served by a pair of student news publications: The Defender, a traditional print newspaper, and The Echo, an online magazine (for which I served as tech editor this past semester). This just in: The legislative Joint Fiscal Committee has rejected many aspects of Gov. Jim Douglas’ proposal to trim $19.7 million from the current fiscal budget.
