After 15 years of holding court in Williston, Chef’s Corner is claiming another corner — the brick-lined nook in the Flynndog Gallery on Flynn Avenue in Burlington where Outer Space used to reside.
“We’ve always been skeptical of expanding, because we have a really good thing going,” says chef Jozef Harrewyn. But when the 500-square-foot space opened up, it seemed like a good fit.
“It’s going to be really unique in its own way,” Harrewyn says of the new café, which will be called Chef’s Corner — South End. It will share with its mothership signature pastries (baked in Williston each morning), breakfast sandwiches, panini, soups and salads, all on a reduced scale.
The ambience, however, will fit the artsy feel of the space. Guests can mingle at long farm tables, for instance. “It’s going to be funky, natural, loose and free,” says Jozef’s wife, Pam Harrewyn, who will be helming the new café with the Harrewyns’ partner, Scott Sorrell. Take-out boxes will be available for those who want to take their lunches to Oakledge Park, she adds, and the new café can be rented for catered events.
The owners are planning a soft opening in early July, with an official opening some time later in the month.
