Seven Days recently celebrated its 30th birthday, which inspired us to put together this list of 30 ways to maximize your experience at the upcoming Vermont Tech Jam on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Hula in Burlington. This is our annual career and tech expo’s 18th year — we started it in 2008 alongside the Vermont Technology Alliance and other local partners. To recognize that milestone, be sure to do No. 18!
1. Preregister for Tech Jam — as always, it’s FREE!
2. Print copies of your résumé in advance to leave behind with recruiters.
3. Practice your pitch! What do you want to make sure exhibitors remember about you?

4. Invite a friend or two to join you. Did we mention that Tech Jam is free?
5. Dress to impress. You don’t need to put on a suit, but don’t wear flip-flops or shorts. Think professional and approachable.
6. Book an appointment in advance for a new headshot with Storyworkz, or walk up on the day of while availability lasts.
7. Say hello to Seven Days writers, editors, designers and sales staff who are volunteering at the event.
8. Enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Champlain from Hula’s campus.
9. Get interview-ready with a latte from Brio Coffeeworks.
10. Talk to the exhibitors. Most of them are seeking employees — and interns, too. Look for the “We’re Hiring!” stickers.
11. Stop by Marvell (Booth 16) to learn more about the company’s semiconductor chip that can self-destruct.

12. Catch the presentation “Taking the FIRST Step.” Hear from students on robotics teams and the local employers who fund them at 11 a.m. in The Reef.
13. Take a tour of Hula (offered at 12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.) and see all that this coworking campus has to offer. Meet at the fountain. Consider signing up for a day pass.
14. Check out Booth 4, where Accessible Web is demonstrating its assistive technology.
15. Visit Sue Schlom of the Targeted Resume in Sandbar for free résumé advice.
16. Volunteer to reconnect communities across the U.S. following a disaster — and help build local resilience here in Vermont — at the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center booth (Booth 3).
17. Try BETA Technologies’ MobileDome flight simulator in the parking lot between Buildings 50 and 44.
18. Like what Tech Jam is offering? Help pay for it by becoming a Seven Days Super Reader. You’ll help us continue to host free events and publish an award-winning, free, local newspaper.
19. Grab a bite to eat in Hula’s café, now run by Preppi Market & Eatery.
20. Visit Norwich University (Booth 5), Vermont State University (Booth 24) UVM Advance (Booth 37) and Community College of Vermont (Booth 31) to learn about tech-related degree and certificate programs.
21. Try an immersive digital experience — enhanced with scent! — at the OVR Technology office (office 750).
22. Talk with PayMore (Booth 22) about exchanging some of your old digital devices for cash.
23. Chat up a fellow Jammer! Which booths have you been to that they haven’t? Compare notes on the day.
24. See where NDI’s electromagnetic tracking device can lead you (Booth 2).

25. Attend “The AI Will See You Now” presentation in The Reef at 1 p.m. to hear about how AI is already being used in health care settings. Panelists include a local entrepreneur, a UVM researcher and the chief health information officer of UVM Health.
26. See what Hazelett’s 3D printer can do (Booth 12).
27. Visit FIRST robotics teams in the Isthmus room and find out how to volunteer as a mentor.
28. Scope out Wildlife Imaging Systems‘ thermal camera live feed (Booth 23).
29. Take a photo with the Tech Jam mascot and post to social media. Be sure to tag us @sevendaysvt.
30. Take the post-Jam survey and enter to win a 10-day pass at Hula. We’re always looking for ways to improve!
