About this series

“Ways and Means” isย a special year-long projectย that details the inner workings of Vermont’s legislature and explores how well it represents state residents. This series was underwritten by Vermont philanthropists.

“Ways and Means” reporter Hannah Bassett holds a B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University and an M.A. in Journalism from Stanford University. A New Hampshire native, she came to Seven Days in December 2024 from the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting, where she worked in collaboration with ProPublica.
