Westford’s country store, Westford Provisions, is adding a seasonal outdoor bar on its wraparound porch this month, plus a beer garden to open in July off the west side of the building at 26 Common Road. Both will offer alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks with a light food menu, co-owner Kimberly Harris said.

On June 21, Harris, 57, and her business and life partner, Jim Salimeno, will celebrate one year since they opened their business by the Westford Town Common. Westford Provisions stocks many locally produced and specialty food and beverage products and operates a deli, bakery, Ruby’s Ice Cream and the Black Orchid Coffee bar on-site.

When the porch bar opens, customers will be able to order wine by the glass, local microbrews, mocktails featuring housemade herbal syrups and mixed drinks to enjoy al fresco at standing tables or chairs on the porch and in a roped-off lawn. Food options will include charcuterie and cheese boards and finger food with occasional themes, such as lobster roll nights, Harris said.

The German-style beer garden will open in July under the trees near the ice cream window. It will have beer on tap and classic German snacks, such as pretzels with the beer-cheese dip called obatzda.

“Our dream was to have a little beer garden like in all the little farm villages where my mom is from,” said Harris, whose mother was born in Bavaria. “People meet there to talk about their crops and animals. They are where you connect with your neighbors.”
