The former country store just off the Westford Town Common reopened in June as Westford Provisions. It has gradually expanded its offerings over the summer, culminating in the launch of a deli, a bakery and prepared meals in mid-August.

Kimberly Harris and her business and life partner, Jim Salimeno, have stocked their retail store at 26 Common Road with many locally produced and specialty food and beverage products, from beer to bread. The store also hosts Ruby’s Ice Cream, serving Gifford’s Ice Cream from Maine; and the Black Orchid Coffee bar, brewing organic Equal Exchange beans and a wide array of organic herbal, black and green teas.

Harris, 56, is also a co-owner of Nusantara, an Essex store that sources handmade items from around the world. She described Westford Provisions as
“a foodie version of Nusantara,” but her focus there is closer to home.

The small kitchen team bakes fresh muffins and cookies daily and makes breakfast, bagel and deli sandwiches to order throughout the day. Harris emphasized that all sandwiches cost $10 and come with kettle chips.

A cooler displays meals packaged to go. The rotating menu might include empanadas, curried tofu wraps, beef chili, and roasted, herbed chicken breasts with mashed potatoes and maple carrots.

“It’s comfort food,” Harris said. “We’re making meals for busy couples, families and older people, too.”
