Georgia Dolan Jeffers, 92, of Shelburne, Vt., died of natural causes in Colchester, Vt., at the McClure Miller Respite House on July 2, 2026.
She was born in Hartford, Conn., to Eva May Fox Dolan and Vincent Dolan and attended school in Manchester, Conn., before studying at UCONN and marrying John “Jeff” Jeffers on September 10, 1955, at the Manchester Country Club in Manchester, Conn.
Georgia and Jeff moved to Cape Cod, where Jeff was stationed in the U.S. Air Force for five years, before returning to Manchester, Conn., to start their family. They then moved to East Lyme, Conn., where they lived for six years, followed by a brief time in Medfield, Mass., before moving to Vermont in 1968.
People often commented that Georgia was the most positive person they’d ever met, and she was. Georgia was a homemaker when her daughters were small, then joined the VOTEC department at the University of Vermont to start a long career in office management and grant administration at UVM once the girls were in school full time. Georgia loved to work and loved her coworkers, and she worked past retirement, to 80, before fully retiring to care for her husband, who was facing health challenges.
Georgia had a strong spiritual side and was devoted to her church community all her life. She had an unwavering moral compass, always looked for the good, and was compassionate and generous with everyone she came to know. She loved everything beach: the water, shell collecting, sailing and beach walking. She also enjoyed skiing, camping, gardening, picking fruit and putting up preserves. Mostly she loved people and enjoyed lifelong friendships with people from all periods of her life. Weekly, she was often on calls with friends she knew from high school and early married life, with many friendships lasting 60, 70 and 80-plus years. She loved to make friends and “adopted” the Ashooh family in Shelburne as an honorary grandmother to their three kids, whom she loved as her own “grands.” She loved welcoming friends and friends of friends and family into her home.
Georgia is preceded in death by her daughter Holly; husband, “Jeff,” sister, Linda Warner (Ed Warner); and her parents; and is survived by her daughters Robin Jeffers, Jill Jeffers Ruppenkamp (Steve Ruppenkamp) and Penny Jeffers (Anne Grignon); granddaughter, Emily Van Ravestein (Braden Van Ravestein), and their sons, Braden, Jack and Nash; grandson, Dylan Levins (Elissa Sanford); nephews, Mark Chambrevich and Jonathan Chambers; his daughters, Amy and Sarah; and Georgia’s beloved neighbors the Ashoohs: Mike, Sarah (Nilson), Josh, Lena and Samara.
A church service for Georgia will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, 11 a.m., at the North Avenue Alliance Church in Burlington, Vt. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the McLure Miller Respite House or the Christian and Missionary Alliance missions, c/o North Avenue Alliance Church, in honor of Georgia.
