Lately, I’ve been flitting across the internets, going from transhumanist blogs to Buddhist journals like a metaphysical hummingbird. Today, I discovered This Is This, which is published by one Chris Jones. It’s up for a “Blogisattva” award, which is a yearly honor bestowed upon English language, Buddhist-oriented blogs.

The first post I read was about The Police reunion, which I am unashamedly excited about.

Another favorite along these lines is Sentient Developments, which was nominated for the same award. If you bookmark one site this year, make it SD. I’m telling you, it’s great.

Off to Higher Ground to judge this contest. UPDATE: Contest postponed or cancelled.

  1. New podcast posted: Must-know terms for the 21st Century intellectualCome on. I read the list, and it’s interesting, yes, but that title makes me cringe… it’s like something out of Cosmopolitan… “Get Smart, Quick!”

  2. material in a material world. Interesting sites. I was sort of expecting some pseudo philosophy; where people come up with supposedly new names for concepts and questions that have been rolling in continuous debate since Aristotle, but it wasn’t like that. thanks

  3. i hope stew copeland fires up the old Fairlight for the Police reunion.or at least wears some of those hot soccer shorts…..hahah!

  4. Yeah, the title of that post leaves something to be desired. But Dvorsky’s insights are sharp, and his futurist musings grounded in empiricism. I read a great post the other day about Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, who I’ve become increasingly interested in. I just wish I had more time to read online journals. Also, my eyes get strained pretty quickly, since I’m staring at a computer screen all day.Stew’s soccer shorts was tight, yo!

  5. i’ve been getting serious eyes strain lately too… Pierre Teilhard De Chardin, he’s a running back for the Bears right? Go Bears!!! [headbutt]

  6. I tried singing along with the verse sections of “so lonely” (i think that’s the name). Jesus that’s high. I wonder if there will be some detuning going on.

  7. Jeez Casey, my Mom loves you already… Once you and she bro down on the De Chardin tip, I may have to give up my seat at the dinner table. He is totally her spiritual homey.I love that this post included him as well as the Police reunion.

  8. What a great lady she is. I’d be happy to be fed scraps from the Cleary table. The Police and De Chardin in the same post… Hmmm, could that be… synchronicity? Probably not.
