4/16/16: Chainmail, elf ears and foam weapons of all shapes and sizes were on display Saturday at Oakledge Park in Burlington. The season opener of Tir Asleen Burlington Dagorhir (pronounced “dagger here”) brought together players from all over New England, New York and Pennsylvania.

Dagorhir is a full contact medieval foam fighting club that was created in 1977 and was inspired by Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Over the decades, it has spread across North America and the Burlington group is three years old. Decked out in medieval garb, the players attacked each other with foam weapons in intricate battle scenarios inspired by the film Willow.

Find Burlington Dagorhir on Facebook, and check out the main Dagorhir website.

Music: Kevin MacLeod, “Angevin 120 loop,” “Also Sprach Zarathustra” (composer: Richard Strauss), “Achaidh Cheide,” “Agnus Dei X” MIT Concert Choir, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, “O Fortuna”

  1. Like what you see? Look us up on https://www.facebook.com/groups/BurlingtonDag/ Or come down to Oakledge Park in Burlington. Practices are Saturday 1pm, gear and training provided. Join the group and make friends; there are often impromptu sparring sessions in Battery park as well. The group is very welcoming and if you have interest, attitude and will, there is a place for you here.
