This Friday through Sunday, September 11 to 13, the South End Art Hop returns to Burlington. The perennial winner of best arts event in the Seven Daysies readers’ choice awards, the three-day affair features hundreds of artists opening their studios, excellent pop-up exhibitions and one-of-a-kind events. At the Karma Bird House building, two South End creative forces come together for “The Cut & Sew Show,” a fashion collab like no other. Art bookstore the Shelter Cultivation Project and longtime Burlington clothing-and-housewares brand April Cornell have teamed up with almost 30 local and national artists, who have cut, pieced, painted and customized unfinished chore coats. The fashion statements range from quilted to camo, cozy illustrations to avant-garde deconstructions. The exhibition includes photos of the works in process, as well as the wearables themselves.

Head to BCA Studies on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. for “Interstitial Yoko Dreams.” Once upon a time, Burlington DJ, musician and producer Craig Mitchell worked on a project reenvisioning legendary performance artist Yoko Ono’s music as dance versions of her original songs, released under the label MIND TRAIN. Now Mitchell revives his remixes, accompanied by video projections from more than 20 artists curated by the Media Factory and former Flynn executive director John Killacky. Expect the club vibes to be more rave than rarified.

Celebrate both Art Hop and Burlington Pride this weekend with the “Pride + Joy Quilt Show” at Aikido of Champlain Valley. The folks at Riot Craft Studio have been hard at work all summer long hosting crafting events across the state in support of queer joy. Ten Vermont artists designed original quilts with the goal of supporting orgs such as Outright Vermont and fostering community connections. Many hands made the work — and the moment we’re living in — a little lighter.
