Have you ever been outsmarted by a cupcake? It could happen.
Though ice cream, macarons, doughnuts and now even cronuts have come and gone in bigger cities, cupcakes have had the staying power of a cockroach in and around the Queen City. It could be declared Vermont’s official dessert.
And there’s a reason: Cupcakes are good. Especially cupcakes like the Root Beer Float from Superb Cupcakes in Williston.
It was that delectable dessert that got the better of me. Somehow, baker-owners Joseph Emmons and Hannah Lenehan crammed every bit of flavor from the sugary drink into a baked form.
Forget the chocolate cupcake and its pleasantly spongy bounce. It simply blends with the buttercream on top, intensely flavored with root beer, then glazed with even more of the stuff. Inside, fluffy vanilla cream approximates a bobbing scoop of ice cream. Save the drastic temperature difference, you will be fooled.

Creemees wouldn’t b eat out cupcakes? I have tasted both little miss cupcake and splendids. While pretty, the cakes are dry. They are still a far way from magnolia bakery or southport grocery in Chicago.
This place has the best cupcakes in the area. I’ve tried them all and keep going back to get them here. The husband and wife make a great team – always nice. They keep the facebook page up to date and always post the cupcakes of the day and bring me back in the store again and again. I’m happy to have them in this location without the hassle of going downtown to get my little cupcake which have been very dry anyhow.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the cupcakes. I know you can not please everyone, and it could be that I am a professionally trained Pastry Chef, but I was not impressed. First thing, the presentation was not appealing. Nothing caught my eye, besides the flavor cards. Each cupcake was dry, plain, and did not live up to the name. It could have been that when I stopped in it was later in the day, but it tasted as if the cupcakes were not freshly made. I have not gone back, and probably never will.
Unknow is so wrong and as a pastry chef she should be ashamed of her self I have been to superb cupcakes many times and tried most of there flavors and they are so moist and so delicious and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants real home made cupcakes
