The Green Mountain Beer Institute and the Woods Lodge — both based in Northfield — have teamed up to present an evening of food and drink centered on dark brews and rich, long-simmered winter fare. The night begins with a 30-minute beer education segment and continues with a glass of Long Trail Brewing or Guinness and a bowl of beef (or beefless) stew, plus fresh bread, salad and apple strudel. It's part of a series they call the Friday Night Beer Thing, or #fnbt on Facebook.
In the Dark: A Night of Stouts (and Stews): Friday, January 19, 6 p.m., the Woods Lodge, Northfield. $28-35; preregister. Info, 778-0205, thewoodslodgerestaurant.com.
