Shuttling kids from one summer camp or activity to the next can be a logistical nightmare. The youth Summer fun pass aims to make it a little easier. The program, a joint effort by the Chittenden County Transportation Authority and the Green Mountain Transit Agency, gives children ages 7 to 17 unlimited reduced-price access to local bus-service routes between June 15 and August 25. For $15 or $25, depending on which carrier they patronize, kids get a waterproof, silicone bracelet they can show the bus driver when boarding, eliminating the need for cash or a paper pass; parents still have to pay full fare. Says CCTA’s general manager Karen Walton, “This program is a great opportunity to reinforce bus service as an asset to the community and to train the next generation of riders.”
