You don’t have to be an adult to make a difference in the world — that’s the main lesson of Girls Rock the Capitol. This intensive internship program led by Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains links girls to female legislators; together, they work on government and advocacy issues, giving teens an inside look at the legislative process. “It feels great to be able to express your concern on a bill, or how you feel this may or may not affect people of Vermont,” writes Mary, a teen who recently completed a year in the program. Does your daughter want to get involved? High school girls are encouraged to apply for this year’s internship. The application deadline is October 31; no Girl Scout experience is required.

Girls Rock the Capitol: To apply, contact Nicole Nolan at 888-474-9686, ext. 142 or nnolan@girlscoutsgwm.org.
