At their meeting on January 5, 2026 the Richmond Selectboard voted to amend the traffic ordinance. Copies of the amended ordinance are available at the Town Clerk’s Office, 203 Bridge Street Richmond, or by calling 434-5170, and, at www.richmondvt.gov.

Summary of Changes to Traffic Ordinance

• All Changes are in Section 4. Location of Stop Signs.

• Additions are bolded and underlined. Deletions are bolded with a strikethrough.

• Stop signs will be installed at:

• TH #01 (Huntington Road) eastbound at the INTERSECTION of TH #01 (Bridge Street)

• TH #01 (Bridge Street) southbound at the INTERSECTION of TH #01 (Huntington Road)

• Stop signs exist at the following locations. Wording has been changed in the Ordinance to achieve consistent description of stop sign locations:

• TH #03 (Cochran Road) westbound at the INTERSECTION of onto TH #01 (Huntington Road)

• TH #34 (Thompson Road) northbound onto at the INTERSECTION of TH #03 (Cochran Road)

• TH #57 (Westall Drive) eastbound onto at the INTERSECTION of TH #56 (Southview Drive)

• Stop signs exist at the following locations but they were not included in the Ordinance:

• TH #56 (Southview Drive) northbound at the INTERSECTION of TH #59 (Joan Ave)

• TH #61 (Greystone Dr.) northbound onto TH #03 (Cochran Road)

In accordance with 24 V.S.A. 1973 residents of the Town or Richmond have the legal right to petition to disapprove of an ordinance. A petition for a vote on the question of disapproving an ordinance or rule shall be signed by not less than five per cent of the qualified voters of the municipality, and presented to the legislative body or the clerk of the municipality within 44 days following the date of adoption of the ordinance or rule by the legislative body. Unless a petition is filed in accordance with 24 V.S.A. 1973, the ordinance or rule shall become effective 60 days after the date of its adoption.
