Douglas Dunbebin died peacefully on March 4 at the University of Vermont Medical Center, several days after suffering sudden cardiac arrest. Doug was born on May 2, 1962, in Baltimore, Md., but considered Vermont his home. He was a tender and loving husband, son, brother and friend, a talented artist, a lover of blueberries and most anything chocolate, an admirer of flight, a courageous and ardent supporter of peace and justice, and a kind, thoughtful and generous man. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. Doug was a graphic designer whose work contributed to many social and political causes and campaigns, he was a former Burlington city councilor, and he most recently worked as community education and public relations manager for the community access station RETN, Channel 16. There are no words to adequately express the light he brought to our lives and the world.
A memorial service for Doug will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Society in Burlington at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 11. A second service will be held in Takoma Park, Md., at a date to be determined. There will be time at each service for family and friends to share stories and memories.

What sad news. I knew Doug as an admirable city councilor. He did his homework and was a passionate and always civil advocate for causes he thought important. He was a gracious man with a quirky sense of humor and an easy smile. Inadequate as words are at such a time, I offer my condolences to his wife, Trina Magi, and all those who loved him.
My sincere condolences to his wife Trina and family. Doug was a wonderfully kind human being
Prayers with the Dunbebin family. Doug was truly a great person.
Still cannot fathom this. The world so much needs more people like Doug. I have never known a more kind, gracious, compassionate, talented and humble person. Doug did so much good but never sought attention for his good work. He and Trina will forever remain my role models of what a positive, mutually supportive relationship looks like. xo to Trina and to all who have known Doug and will forever hold him dear.
Dougie Dunbebin was a great teenager and a wonderful adult. He was a few years ahead of me in school, his senior year he was class president. We went to same college. This was a guy who never had a harsh word for anyone! Trina, I haven’t seen you or Dougie since college, but I have very good memories of both of you. My condolences and prayers are with you. I met Doug through his work at RETN. He was a talented, enthusiastic, helpful, and patient teacher. His kindness made an unforgettable impression on me. His talents will be sorely missed not only in the Burlington community, but beyond. I am so sorry to hear of his sudden passing and may his family, friends, and colleagues be comforted to know that he touched so many lives with his light.
