Anneliese Monika Shor died peacefully, in her sleep, at her beloved home in Marshfield, Vt., on June 28, 2026.
Ana was born on April 30, 1943, in Berlin, Germany, during the World War II bombing raids. The daughter of a single mother, Ana spent her childhood in East Berlin in the home of her maternal grandparents. When she was a teenager, she moved to West Berlin. Always an adventurer, her life was a spiritual journey. Ana birthed two children and married three times. Before moving to Vermont, she traveled in England, India and Greece. Ana was inspired by music, beauty, simplicity and nature. The way she lived her final years, with little worldly distractions, was like a meditation. Ana loved her “Big Brother, Jesus Christ” and her “Human Tribe.”
A memorial gathering will be held in September at Lone Rock Farm in Marshfield. Contributions can be made in Ana’s name to WGDR or Vermont Public.
