Carol (Lowell) Emmons, 74, of Hinesburg, Vt., passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2026, in Burlington, Vt.

She was born on March 5, 1952, in Burlington to Leslie and Mary (Russin) Lowell. She grew up in Hinesburg and graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 1972. Soon after, she married Francis Emmons, on October 20, 1972, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Hinesburg. Together, they shared over 53 years of marriage.

Though she held various jobs over the years, Carol’s true calling was her family. She was a devoted wife to Francis, a loving mother to Jared and Aneesia, and a natural caregiver who spent much of her life looking after her extended family. Above all, she loved them deeply, and she was an avid thrifter who always looked forward to hunting for hidden treasures with her kids.

Carol is survived by her husband, Francis; children, Jared and Aneesia; brothers Les, Stan and Roger; sisters Geraldine and Arlene; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Mary Lowell; sister Joanne; and her brothers David and Wesley.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the local first responders for their compassionate care during the emergency.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, 4 to 6 p.m., at Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot St., Richmond, VT.
