Celia Jarvis McClintock, 101, of Burlington, Vt., died peacefully on October 1, 2026. She was born on June 20, 1925, in Alburgh, Vt., the daughter of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Mott) Jarvis. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and attended Burlington Business College. While attending Burlington College, she passed the civil service exam, which allowed her to be employed for the war efforts in Washington, D.C., during World War II. While in D.C., she volunteered with the USO in event hospitality for wounded soldiers.

She married John (“Mickey”) J. McClintock on January 8, 1951, at St. Francis Church in Winooski, Vt. They were married for 62 years, until Mickey passed away in 2013. As a lifelong Vermonter, she and Mickey raised three children together in Burlington, Vt. She was an avid volunteer in her community with many organizations, from the Girl Scouts while raising her children to the Heineberg Senior Center in her retirement.

She is survived by her children, Gail (Tom) Moreau, Lynn Witter and Brian McClintock. Missing her will be her grandchildren Darren (Jen) Martin, Nathan (Krista) Moreau, Erin (Heidi) Moreau, Justin Witter, and Emily, Holly, Celia and Mary McClintock; and her great-grandchildren, Emma and Liam Martin, Jacob and Lucas Witter, Ayriana and Trevor Witter, Henry and Julian Moreau, and Georgia, Juniper and Weston Moreau. She was predeceased by her grandchildren Kristin and Jeremy Witter and her brothers, Earl and Royal Jarvis.

She had a special gift to make every person in her family feel uniquely loved. She was the epitome of “laughter is the best medicine.” She found beauty and joy in the simplest things: trees, sunsets or the flowers in her yard. She left her family with so many wonderful memories, from always waving goodbye from the window to her infectious laugh or ensuring no one left her house without a sweet treat.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, 11 a.m., at St. Mark’s Church in Burlington. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Memorial contributions may be made to Heineberg Senior Community Center, 14 Heineberg Rd., Burlington, VT 05408.

The family is grateful for the love and care both mom and the family received from Bayada Hospice. A special thank-you to Ethan Allen Residence for their exceptional care during her stay and where donations may also be made in her honor.
