Clement “Ted” Meunier, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, with his devoted wife by his side. Born on April 6, 1937, in Burlington, Vt., Ted was the adored son of the late Clement Meunier and Edith Allen Meunier.
Ted’s life was a testament to love, commitment and adventure. On June 22, 1957, he married the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” Patton. Together, they shared an extraordinary 69-plus-year journey filled with laughter, love and countless cherished memories. As devoted parents, they raised three wonderful children: Wendy Meunier Wood, Linda Meunier Cota and Melanie Meunier.
A proud graduate of Burlington High School in 1955, Ted soon dedicated his service to the U.S. Naval Air from 1955 to 1959, continuing in the reserves and retiring after 20 years of honorable service. His professional life included a fulfilling career as a computer analyst at IBM, where he worked for 19-plus years before embarking on various entrepreneurial ventures. Ted’s endeavors included North Country Oil & Construction, fixed base operator of the Franklin County State Airport in Highgate, and Meunier Real Estate.
Ted was an active participant in community service wherever they lived. He was a member of the Masons, served on the Fairfax School Board and served on the selectboard in Franklin. He was the president of the Underhill Rod & Gun Club and the Vermont delegate to the National Skeet Shooting Association, where his passion for skeet shooting flourished. He was a skeet shooting instructor for Remington, and he also taught his wife to be a competitive shooter and shared his love for the sport with his children and grandchildren, creating treasured family memories.
Ted was actively involved with skiing, boating, golfing and hunting with the entire family. In pursuit of his dream of flying, Ted became a pilot and flight instructor and earned his mechanics license — sharing the skies with his family. He and Peggy traveled the country, finding joy and adventure at skeet shoots and the cockpit, inspiring a love for flying in the future generations.
Ted’s life was characterized by his quiet demeanor, yet his robust laugh and zest for life were unmistakable. He approached each day with enthusiasm, pursuing dreams and nurturing his family’s shared adventures.
Ted is lovingly survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Wendy (Jonathan Wood), Linda (Kerry Caldwell) and Melanie; grandchildren, Christopher Cota (Ashley Cota), Emily Cota Dallier, Curtis Cota (Jessica Cota), Julia Nuzzo (Chris Campbell) and Isobel Nuzzo; and great-grandchildren, Autumn and Ryleigh Dallier and Ella, Cavin and Ciara Cota.
A service to honor Ted’s remarkable life will be held on October 25, 2026, 1:30 p.m., at the Fairfax United Church in Fairfax, Vt. Following, there will be a military remembrance held at the Underhill Rod & Gun Club (located off Allen Irish Road), refreshments provided, starting at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the Underhill Rod & Gun Club, in memory of Ted’s generous spirit and love for his community. The family wishes to thank the staff of Our Lady of the Meadows Ave Maria Community Care Home and Bayada Hospice for their thoughtful and compassionate care.
