Eveline R. “Evie” (Boulanger) Corey, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vt., following years of loving companionship and devoted care in her home at Williston Place Independent Senior Living from her daughter Kim.
Evie was born on December 7, 1936, the ninth of 11 children, in Orleans, Vt., to Joseph Louis Boulanger and Gwendolyn (Gilson) Boulanger. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Richard Phillip “Dick” Corey; her eldest daughter, Robin E. Corey; her parents; and her eight brothers: Francis, George, Raymond, David, Leo, Phillip, Joseph and Richard Boulanger.
Proud of her Vermont roots, Evie carried with her the resilience, strength, humility and deep sense of family learned while growing up in the Northeast Kingdom. As a young woman, she moved to Burlington and went to work at General Electric. It was there, between the comings and goings of an elevator, that she noticed a handsome young man who would soon change her life. On February 6, 1960, Evie married Dick Corey of Burlington, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades. Together, they raised four children, first in South Burlington and later in Shelburne.
A devoted wife and mother, Evie had a gift for making a house a true home, always placing her family before herself. She found joy in gardening, classical music and playing the piano. She was known for her daily four-mile walks and her enjoyment of a round of golf, and when fresh snow fell, she could often be found gliding through the neighborhood on her cross-country skis. For many years, she shared her voice in the Saint Catherine’s Church Choir. After her children were grown, Evie worked as a bank teller at the Howard Bank branch in Shelburne.
Evie is survived by her daughters Kimberly A. Corey of Colchester and Heidi L. Corey of Rutland; and her son, Daniel R. Corey, and his wife, Beth Harrison, of Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by her sisters, Rita (Boulanger) Hilliard of Springfield, Mass., and Catherine (Boulanger) Bechert of Parkland, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Kathy (Lysaght) Boulanger of Shelburne; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the University of Vermont Health Network Home Health & Hospice; the McClure Miller Respite House; Williston Place; and Evie’s independent caregivers, particularly Ms. Dhyanna Lucia, for their tireless, compassionate care and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026, 11 a.m., at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington, Vt., with interment to follow at Resurrection Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester or to UVM Health Network Home Health & Hospice.
