James Henderson passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the University of Vermont Medical Center, leaving behind a life marked by curiosity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for people and ideas.
James attended Moses Brown School in Providence, R.I., where he excelled in athletics, particularly basketball. During his time there, he developed many lasting friendships that he cherished throughout his life.
He had a lifelong interest in politics, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights and was known for his thoughtful discussions about history, government and law.
A frequent traveler, James spent time living in several states, including Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts and California. Throughout his life, he pursued a career centered on helping others and took pride in the work he did.
James was predeceased by his wife. He is survived by his sister, Tanya, and his biological son.
Those who knew James will remember his intelligence, engaging conversations and his passion for his many interests. He enjoyed sharing stories from his travels and experiences, and his unique perspective on life left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
