On July 17, 2026, Joe departed this world with much reluctance, for ”living had been good.” He had a full and interesting life, enjoying many years boating on Lake Champlain and traveling both domestically and internationally. He served his country in the U.S. Army at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and had a long career as a dedicated professor of civil engineering at the University of Vermont.
Thanks to all who have supported Joe and his family, especially the staff of Elderwood and the McClure Miller Respite House. The family is planning a celebration of Joe’s life at a future date. Contributions in Joe’s memory can be made to the McClure Miller Respite House Fund or Shelburne (Vt.) Rescue.
