Larry Arthur Limoge, 92, of Burlington, Vt., passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2026, surrounded by his beloved wife and four daughters.

Born on August 14, 1934, in Burlington, Vt., Larry was the son of Arthur and Grace Fortin Limoge. He was the sixth of seven children and grew up in Burlington’s Old North End, a neighborhood that remained close to his heart throughout his life. In his youth he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment he carried with pride. He graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1952 and moved to California, where he worked at Lockheed Aircraft until he was drafted into the U.S. Navy.

Upon returning to Burlington, Larry became a self-employed business and property owner whose integrity, determination and strong work ethic earned the respect of those who knew him. While he enjoyed success in business, his greatest sources of pride were always his family, his enduring faith and his 63-year marriage to Kathleen Margaret (McHugh) Limoge.

A devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Parish, Larry served as a eucharistic minister and member of the Parish Council Stewardship Committee. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, Ethan Allen Club and the Lions Club, where he was especially honored to receive the Lions Club Humanitarian Service Award.

Larry had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. Humble by nature, he treated everyone with respect, saw value in every person and created lasting connections wherever he went.

Over the years, Larry and Kathy opened their home and their hearts to many of their daughters’ friends. Whether for a few days, a season or longer, numerous young people and exchange students found a welcoming place at the Limoge home and were treated like family. Larry loved caring for others through food and was known for making special breakfasts — particularly his chipped beef on toast, crêpes and galettes for the girls.

Larry found joy in traveling, skiing, camping, tennis, golf, bocce, reading and spending time with his longtime “Sometimes Seven” poker group. He treasured traveling with his siblings and visiting numerous countries throughout the years, creating memories and experiences that became cherished family stories. He also loved many trips out West filled with spontaneity and laughter with dear friends Mary and Jim.

Some of Larry’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, whether at one of the many extended-family picnics, visiting his daughters for a meal, relaxing in the Florida sunshine, or enjoying favorite places such as Papoose Pond, the ocean, Barton Golf Club, and the homes he loved in Burlington and Florida.

His wife and daughters fondly remember Larry’s familiar words, “Thank you for being you,” and upon entering his home greeting each one with, “Let the party begin!”

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy; daughters, Julie Limoge, Barbara Limoge-King (William), Margaret Limoge (Ellen Taggart) and Amy Kiely (Tim); grandchildren, Katy Dongmo (Pernell), Jordan Duchesneau (Laura), Olivia, Samuel and Jackson King, and Frida and Annika Kiely; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Jameson Carter, and Jalen Dongmo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Roland Limoge (Joyce).

He was predeceased by his siblings Jacqueline Parker, Robert and Richard Limoge, Janice Robbins, and Helene McHugh.

Larry’s legacy is reflected in the countless lives he touched through his example of service, acceptance, generosity and unwavering devotion to family. Whether through a welcoming conversation, a helping hand, a shared meal or a simple act of thoughtfulness, he left people feeling valued and included. His wisdom, steady presence and love for those around him will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the University of Vermont Home Health & Hospice and the many caregivers who provided compassionate care and support during Larry’s final months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support UVM Home Health & Hospice or your local food bank, continuing Larry’s lifelong commitment to helping others.
