James Senna

James Patrick Senna, 79, of Colchester, Vt., lovingly known as “Jimmy” and “Papa,” passed away on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

James was born on August 7, 1946, in Burlington, Vt., to Norman and Jennie (Chamberlain) Senna. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Eagles Club, Champlain Aerie #793, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

James shared a beautiful life with his wife of nearly 35 years, Beverly Senna. He loved to sing and dance, and on their wedding day, he danced Beverly around the dance floor to “Waltz Across Texas,” a memory that will forever hold a special place in her heart.

Family was at the center of his life. He found joy in being surrounded by the people he loved, whether gathered together for a celebration, sharing stories or making everyone laugh. He loved fishing, gardening and all living things, and he had a special bond with his dog, Pooker.

James will be remembered for his gentle nature, humor and generous heart. He had a way of making people feel accepted, loved and supported. His family will especially miss his famous birthday calls, a tradition that brought joy year after year.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Senna; son, Robert Senna; stepchildren, Joe Geraw, Peter Geraw and Serena Domina, along with Serena’s lifelong partner, Wayne Parizo; brother, Norman Senna, and his wife, Martha; sisters Nathalie (Senna) Billado and Elaine Lynaugh and her husband, Dale; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Jennie (Chamberlain) Senna; sisters Beverly (Senna) Chagnon and Barbara Senna Bisram; and brothers-in-law David Billado Sr. and Henry Chagnon Jr.

The family would like to thank the staff at McClure Miller Respite House for their exceptional and compassionate care.

Graveside honors will be held on August 1, 2026, noon to 1 p.m., at New Mount Calvary Cemetery in Burlington, Vt. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James’ honor to the Wounded Warrior Project.

To James, the greatest in the world, with all our love.
