Margaret T. Douglas, 86, previously from Cambridge and South Burlington, Vt., died on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester, Vt.
She was born in Burlington, Vt., on October 23, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Harold Ryan and Mary (Sullivan) Ryan. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Margaret married Walter Douglas on June 1, 1957, in Burlington. They were married for 67 years before his death in 2024. She was a homemaker who raised her three children. She loved her animals. They had rabbits, dogs and cats, and when she got sheep, she learned how to spin their wool. She enjoyed working in her garden, camping and going to Maine. She loved her crossword puzzles and watching the many birds at her feeders. In her younger days, they would go square-dancing with their friends. They belonged to the Elks Club, where they loved meeting with family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her three children: Michael and wife Donna of Fairfax, Vt., Patti of Williston, Vt., and Tom and wife Colleen of Jericho, Vt.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Catherine; brother John; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; brothers Dan and Tom; and sister Mary.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 18, at the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel on Shelburne Road. There will be a time to meet with the family from 11 a.m. to noon, and a short service will be held at noon. Burial will be in Deer View Cemetery in Williston. A celebration of life will follow from 2 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post 91 in Colchester.
