Shane Terry Lander of Colchester, Vt., lost his battle with cancer, surrounded by the people he loved, on July 20, 2026.

He was born in Burlington, Vt., in 1961 to Forrest and Bonnie Lander and grew up in Essex Center, Vt. Shane had a bit of a wild side in his younger years, but once he met Tina and started a family, he spent the rest of his years devoted to them.

Those who earned the love and dedication of Shane were rare but chosen. Being chosen by Shane’s love was not something to be taken for granted. It was earned, and you wore it like a proud badge of honor, where you knew, without a doubt, that he would take the shirt off his back to support you as much as he could.

Shane was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather to his loving wife, Tina Lander; children, Casey Hansen (Dan), Lisa LaBelle (Ross) and Nicole Richer (Steve); and 10 grandchildren and their partners. He was also a dedicated friend to Rick and Lori Langlais, who embody what it means to love and support someone until the very end.

Shane was preceded in death by both his parents and his niece Becky Lander. He was survived by his brothers, Reed Lander (Penny) and Brian Lander (Linda), and nieces and nephews.

Our family invites friends and family to a celebration of life that will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, 2 p.m., at his home in Colchester. The address is 25 Camp Kiniya Rd., Colchester, VT. Please reach out to Casey Hansen at 802-355-3746 with any questions.

  1. I don’t even know what to say, because Shane was a man of few words, (“silence is golden”) but I will say THANK YOU SHANE for being a man that I have looked up to since I was a little boy! I always just thought that you would love forever. My heart hurts, but I will always be grateful for you, and all that you taught me, and did for me!
