Foam Brewers Holiday Extravaganza, Foam Brewers, Burlington, Saturday, December 13:

It’s that time of the year when we’re inundated with ho-ho-holiday parties. What better way to fill up your stockings than with the joy of seeing more than 20 bands playing holiday-inspired tunes? Such was the case at Foam Brewers’ Holiday Extravaganza on Saturday. Performances ranged from the likes of songwriters Reid Parsons and Olivia Lurrie to the ripping house band, aka local neo-soul/funk group Point Of Everything, to full-on screamo renditions of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Jingle Bell Rock” by Savage Hen — always the final act because they sleigh the hardest of all. I met an older couple who came to Burlington from Atlanta on a whim because they wanted snow this holiday season, and they couldn’t have been more jolly after showing up at Foam and planting right next to the stage. They expressed to me that they have no community like this in Atlanta and that “it’s like seeing an entire year of live music in a single night.” As we head into the holiday break, let’s not forget how fortunate we are to have the musicians and music lovers that we do. Happy holidays to all, and to all a rocking and rolling good night.
