Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has been blasting former secretary of state Hillary Clinton this week for bailing on a previously agreed debate before the California primary. Wednesday night, Sanders may have found a new debate opponent.

During an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump said he would be willing to debate Sanders ahead of the June 7 vote.

“If he paid a sum toward charity, I would love to do that,” said Trump, who went on to note that the match up “would have such high ratings.”

Sanders quickly responded on Twitter.

It’s unclear if the candidates are serious or can pull together the event in time. Trump has previously bailed on a Republican debate at the last minute.

Earlier this week, Clinton scrapped plans to debate Sanders in California, saying her time would be better spent campaigning. Sanders said that was “insulting” to Californians.

“I am disappointed but not surprised by secretary Clinton’s unwillingness to debate before the largest and most important primary in the presidential nominating process,” Sanders said on Tuesday. “I also would suggest that secretary Clinton may want to be not quite so presumptuous about thinking that she is a certain winner,” Sanders added, touting his recent wins in Indiana, West Virginia and Oregon.

  1. Bernie is accusing Hillary of being presumptuous ? How dare he ! It is not presumptuous to demand that you receive what is so rightfully yours , that being the Democratic nomination . How dare anyone block her presidential coronation !

  2. ON WHAT????? Trump is a nominee- he isn’t going to waste his time being showed up by a non-nominee!

  3. Actually in suggesting 10-14 million dollars being given to charity, does Bernie have $7million left in his campaign when he started the month with only $6million?
Bernie says he will debate but can he afford the buy in?

  4. Wow 1 like, 10 dislikes on my previous comment . Either there are many hard core Hillary supporters here or my sarcasm was wasted . Hilarious .
