Protestors from throughout Vermont, New Hampshire and the wider region marched to the steps of the Capitol in Montpelier on Saturday, September 24. The crowd, which organizers estimated at 1500, had come out to oppose the war in Iraq. They were also supporting the 100,000-some marchers who were rallying simultaneously in Washington, D.C. — the largest antiwar protest in the nation’s capital since the U.S. invasion. In Montpelier, speakers, musicians and other presenters called for the pull-out of troops and for an end to the war.
