The Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund announced four statewide endorsements on Thursday β but purposefully sidestepped the race for governor.
The political arm of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England gave its nod to four incumbents. It endorsed Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman, a Progressive and Democrat,Β and incumbent Democrats Attorney General T.J. Donovan, Secretary of State Jim Condos, and Treasurer Beth Pearce. Neither incumbent Republican Gov. Phil Scott nor his Democratic challenger, Christine Hallquist, were mentioned in the political action committee’s press release.
“We have decided we will not issue an endorsement in the governor’s race,” said Lucy Leriche, the PAC’s vice president of public policy. “Both scored 100 on our candidates’ questionnaire. Whoever is elected, we’re looking forward to having a productive relationship with their administration.”
Leriche, a former Democratic state representative, added, “We are a nonpartisan organization and don’t think women’s health issues should be partisan.”
The four endorsees, Leriche said, also scored 100 on the PAC’s questionnaire. She added that the incumbent auditor, Democrat/Progressive Doug Hoffer, failed to return the questionnaire.
Correction, October 4, 2018: An earlier version of this story misstated Doug Hoffer’s political affiliation.

Oh so being against paid family leave, $15 minimum wage, universal medical care, all of which effect women, have no basis in their decision?
Very disappointing to see PPNNE thinks that policies that make it tough for low income women to have children, to afford giving birth and raising children, having access reproductive healthcare, are worth staying neutral over.
“We are a nonpartisan organization and don’t think women’s health issues should be partisan.”
Well, the “nonpartisan organization” is not shy about being partisan as it relates to the Lt. Gov, Sec. of State, AG and Treasurer.
Union busters. screw them
