Nice piece! But two notes… Alburgh was named for Ira Allen, and so is pronounced like the “Al” in “Allen”. And you folks missed my mother’s quirky shop in Alburgh, just a little ways down Rte. 2 (still in the village). New England Via Vermont has a history and geology room as well as a Civil War museum. Where else are you going to see a Mammoth tooth, or a doctor’s bag from Andersonville?
I love living in the islands. I live in a historic building in Grand Isle. It is been various stores since the 1800’s. Can’t miss it at the flashing light in Grand Isle.
