A few hundred members of the Vietnamese community gathered at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the Lunar New Year. There was a feast, lucky money was handed out to children and students from the Vermont Vietnamese language school performed the dragon dance.
Back in 2016, we met Jen and Ly Trần, the mother/daughter pair who own Allure Nail Salon in South Burlington. This year Jen taught traditional Vietnamese dances to youth which were performed for the crowd and Ly sang the National Anthem and two Vietnamese songs. Eva talked to the organizers and performers about what makes this event so special.
