Two Sev, Big Lake Recording, Burlington, Friday, April 4:
After sitting unoccupied for two years, an absolute gem of a downtown space for music production has been filled by local recording engineers and producers Dan Rome, Ian Steinberg and Mark Balderston. The location, previously home to various therapy offices and waiting rooms, has been transformed into a beautiful set of studio rooms and dubbed Big Lake Recording. Last Friday, the studio hosted a small open house for musicians to see the space and get a sense of its potential — which is quite high, given the trio’s cumulative experience, knowledge and gear. On duty in the studio’s main tracking room was Two Sev. As per usual, Burlington’s scrappiest DJ laid down the perfect party vibes. With walls adorned in art on loan from Pine Street’s S.P.A.C.E. Gallery, Big Lake Recording doesn’t just sound like a really good thing for the local music scene, it looks like a boon to the visual arts scene, too.
