Bolton Valley Begins Construction on New Housing at Resort

Construction of a new residential neighborhood is under way at Bolton Valley Resort. Nordic Peaks, the first building project at the resort in 30 years, will feature 32 condos and townhomes available for purchase.

“This has been many years in the making and represents a huge milestone as we think of what Bolton Valley is capable of. It’s a really big and exciting moment,” said Lindsay DesLauriers, a member of the family that owns the ski area. She is stepping down as the resort’s president and CEO to focus more on long-term development there.

Following a yearslong permitting and design process, the resort broke ground on the slope-side housing development about a month ago.

Tucked into the woods near some of the Nordic ski trails, the new neighborhood will feature 16 one- to two-bedroom condos and 16 three- to four-bedroom townhouses, the first of which will be available for move-in later this year. The rest are expected to be completed by 2029.

The units were designed as year-round residences, though DesLauriers anticipates that some will become second homes. She said the prices, which have not been determined, will reflect the costs of construction.

The homes will be about 30 minutes from the professional hubs of Burlington and Montpelier. The resort already has a hotel and some condos that were built decades ago.

The new construction should be a welcome addition in Chittenden County’s tight real-estate market, DesLauriers said.

DesLauriers’ late father, Ralph, established the resort in the 1960s. When she was growing up in the ’80s and ’90s, she said, only a few families with kids her age lived in the area year-round. Since DesLauriers and her siblings bought the resort back in 2017, she said, that’s changed.

“Now it’s a vibrant year-round community with kids and new community spaces like free music on the lawn, outdoor grilling and an outdoor pool,” DesLauriers said.
