Re: “Walters: Did the Governor Just Wave the White Flag?

@planetacer09, you are right teachers are not the enemy, the VT NEA is. I say that because they buy votes and there is nothing more dangerous in our state than someone that successfully buys votes.

Re: “Walters: Did the Governor Just Wave the White Flag?

In my mind, Johnson and Ash both have aspirations for hire office and they do not want to upset the apple cart with the VT NEA. They know the VT NEA is their meal ticket to those offices. The VT NEA is once again the big winner and VT tax payers the big losers. Very discouraging.

Re: “Vermont Legislature Adjourns Without Fanfare as Scott Promises Veto

Governor's plan = real long term property tax relief by reducing healthcare premium costs and putting real savings back into taxpayer's pockets.
House and Senate plan = artificially reducing taxes by using fund balance in Education Fund. That's like being in business, transferring money from savings to checking account and telling everyone you had a great month. No healthcare savings. Very short sighted.

The VT NEA has proven their control over the Dems and Progs. Shame on all of them.

Re: “As Scott Threatens Veto, Vermont Budget Faces Uncertain Future

It is irresponsible for Ashe and Johnson to leave $26 million on the table when property taxes and school funding are out of control.

Re: “To Veto Budget, Scott May Have to Kill His Own Housing Plan

Politics at its worst. Stand strong Governor Scott, the Dems will hear it loud and clear in the court of public opinion.

Re: “Walters: House Speaker, Union Leaders Very Publicly Air Grievances

Thank you Governor Scott for standing strong on this issue. Since your budget address in January you have been talking about this one time oppurtunity to capture these health insurance savings. The Legislature discarded your plan right out of the gates and never pursued the savings. The press failed to investigate the validity of the savings and instead wrote about a bold plan that was dead on arrival. The VT NEA sat quietly in the back ground with no response while negotiating for 100% employer paid healthcare and ridiculous salary increases with local school boards. Fortunately the school boards did not cave to the VT NEA. By sticking to your position, you have now gotten everyone to agree the $26 million savings is real, no small accomplishment in the world of tax and spend Montpelier. Please continue to stand strong and make sure we capture these savings. You have the upper hand in the negotiations and the power of the people behind you. Oh and by the way, thank you for setting the tone at the top for no new taxes and fees. A monumental legislative session! #MAKEVTMOREAFFORDABLE
