Kountry Kart Deli is once again serving food into the wee hours of Friday and Saturday, reviving a pre-pandemic staple of downtown Burlington’s late-night scene. As of June 26, the 35-year-old deli at 155 Main Street is now open from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. two nights a week, serving a “night owl” menu that includes the popular Shiner sandwich of egg, cheese, meat and a crisp hash brown on a bulkie roll. Owner Mike Williams said he will start with those summer weekend nights and hopes to expand the late-night hours this fall as Burlington’s full student population returns.
Before the pandemic, Kountry Kart was open 20.5 hours daily, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 a.m., said Williams, 60. Now, the deli closes at 7 p.m. and reopens three hours later on Friday and Saturday. Williams’ own college-student daughter, Laina, is working for her dad this summer. “It’s been a really difficult six years,” Williams said. “We needed to grow our hours again.”

Perry and Neil Farr, co-owners of the Scale Poké Bar restaurants, are adding a second location of Judi’s Ice Cream in South Burlington’s City Center. The new scoop shop at 264 Market Street is a few storefronts away from the couple’s third Scale restaurant, which joined its Williston and Essex Junction siblings in late 2025. Like the original Judi’s, which opened in spring 2025 at 373 Blair Park Road, the new shop will serve sundaes, milkshakes and floats made with Kingdom Creamery of Vermont creemee base and Gifford’s hard ice cream. Unlike its Williston counterpart, it has indoor seating and will scoop daily year-round, said Neil, 44. He expects to open it this week.
