The blurry shot above mirrors the buzzy energy inside Misery Loves Co. late this morning, less than an hour after it opened inside the ex-Don Pedro’s Taqueria space in Winooski.

Gone are the wild parrot hues of the previous tenants; they’ve been replaced by cool, white walls and tile, a pale, zigzag wood floor, and vintage pendant lamps. By 11:30 a.m., all of the nine or so tables were filled, oversize sandwiches were flying off the grill and the only memory of the former tenants was a small tray of hot sauces.

  1. I wish them luck. It’s really hard to park in Winooski. I miss don pedros and hope this new place is as good.

  2. You certainly are kidding, right? I drive through there all of the time with nooooo problem. Basic driving skills apply.

  3. Re: the parking issue — There’s a huge parking garage across the roundabout from Misery. I know it’s not super easy to navigate if you’ve never been, but it’s worth spending a few minutes driving around to the entrance rather than trying to find street parking. There are free spots in there (some of them, oddly, have meters). And the walk is comparable to anything you’d find in downtown Burlington. Here’s a map we made when we held the Tech Jam there in October. It shows the location of the garage. http://7d.blogs.com/.a/6a00d83… (disclaimer: I’m a Winooski resident)

  4. Yeah but I’m driving a tractor. In fairness to the restaurant, I have at least two co-workers who would trample me into the mud if I came between them and a sandwich from MLC.

  5. Hmmm. Welcome Misery Loves Co.!!! Thank you guys for bringing a quality establishment to this great town. Parking??? There is always parking on the round about, or in front of the Champlain Mill without meters like Burlington. 2 hrs for free. and 15 min. spots are abundant to grab a quick well executed sandwich from Misery or pick up your to-go from Tiny Thai. Therefore Im curiously amused by the parking comments….
