This demeaning headline and the article content represent unfair non-factual reporting. The reporter pieced together words out of context from the Republican Chairs message together as if one thought. He used that to claim she derided the presidents critics and in that way, thus making his false point that she called all who opposed President Trump, left wing hatemongers. SHE DID NOT SAY THAT!
In using the word hatemonger, she was speaking about those who after Donald Trumps election called for his assassination. There cannot be strong enough words to describe such people. Few would disagree with that and here is exactly what she said and the only place where she used the word hatemonger and it is in the same sentence describing those who called for the Presidents assassination: Who could have imagined the anger, violence and insanity, acted out by many left-wing hatemongers calling even for his assassination because their candidate lost? Space will not allow me to list all the hateful things said and done to this President and his family. She was speaking of the well documented threats and disgusting acts by people who could not stand the fact that Donald Trump was elected. That is what she was talking about and it is sad that anyone would try to twist that into something that it is not.

Glad no additional powers granted the Human Rights Commission. Recent reports in vtdigger regarding their handling of a claim that Waterbury illegally discriminated against a camper was completely unfounded and threats to bring a lawsuit if they did not settle the matter was abusive. Same kind of abuse appeared in a report involving an inmate and the Department of Corrections with the HRC pushing for a monetary award to the inmate.

Deb Billado made a good point and it is the reason I rarely post here. They claim to moderate comments to insure a civil environment but what I see shows just the opposite. They talk of classy but how can that be when they let people post under phony names and spew lies and disrespect? Hard to understand how journalists, who come from such a rich and respected history, could sell out the way it is today. Conservatives, Christians, and Republicans (True Republicans are usually all three) only have one way to get the word out in this evil environment. They live their lives as they speak their words and set examples that someday might turn things around. I'm not holding my breath.

To blame Deb Billado, elected in 2017 as statewide party chair, for the decay of the Vermont Republican Party is dishonest and hypocritical. Worthy of blame are those, recognizable as Republicans only by the R after their name, leading the charge to rid the party of truth talking, Deb Billado. Those deserving blame are Phil Scott, Joe Benning and to some degree Don Turner. Scott was a Senator from 2001-2011, Benning in the Senate from 2011 and Turner in the House from 2006.
Republicans lost having their way in the House since 2005 & never got it back. To blame Billado for this waning because she supports a President elected in 2016 is clearly a diversionary tactic to keep blame from where it belongs. The big tent Republican Party has always been inclusive but that shouldnt mean turning the party into liberal-progressive lite because Democrats do liberal better than we do and so we lose. Scott, Benning and Turner entered the tent with a contagious liberal virus that weakened the tent pillars and continued to infect other Republicans. Both Randy Brock and Corey Parent appear infected by the Benning virus. The Democrat Senate just passed PR.5, the proposed abortion constitutional amendment. They praised Benning for his help in their plan to enshrine Vermonts current abortion practice that allows the killing and dismembering of a perfect full-term baby just seconds before delivery and with no restrictions. Thats evil Joe!
Scott, Benning and Turner could have led in those faltering years after 2005 to bring things back but chose instead to make it their purpose to stay in office perpetually, but to do that they had to be willing and did stay under the dining table on a leash, willing to eat only what their liberal/progressive masters dropped to them.

Thank you Winnie. It is amazing that those who yell the loudest about the presumption of innocence when there is an obvious criminal who is charged are the same who are willing to crucify those of faith who devoted their lives to making the world a better place and saving the lives of many based on unfounded reports from a half a century ago. Imagine the hurt felt by those wonderful nuns and priests who sacrificed much to do good for so many children.

Vermonts Attorney General, TJ Donovan, says he will specifically investigate crimes and abuses that allegedly occurred at St Joseph which has now been closed for some 44 years, matters which were the subject of dozens of lawsuits in the 90s. So, why now?
Without explanation he added: my sense is we will also look at some larger issues involved here. That is suspect since a Vermont State Police reports that, we have received no complaints or requests at this time. Im not a Catholic but see a danger to all people of faith. In this age of non-belief in God, intolerance of religious views is tolerated.
People of faith today are often marginalized and discriminated against. To be horrified and angry about past possible wrongs is ok, but for it to trigger a task force and press conference to announce an investigation of the entire Catholic Church is beyond the pale.
Could it be the AG is motivated by his future US Senate hopes and sees it as opportunity and a safe one at that?

There is no question that the Chair of the Vermont Republican Party criticized those opponents of the President and rightly so. It is widely known that the resistance will oppose this President in any and all things he does for America because and just because they cannot accept the result, even to this day, of his election and that Hillary Clinton lost. All Americans should criticize such people, especially the Democrat Congress, that will not work with the President and Senate to fix matters like the crisis on the southern border or other critical matters facing America and just because they loathe Donald Trump.
The testimony of Mueller before Congress revealed just what she said it did and what honest observer could say that was not a valid point?
Her job is to support all candidates, statewide and national and just because Seven Days wishes to fan the flames of differences in the Vermont Republican Party it cannot lessen her dedication to represent all Republicans fairly and she does that. One article supporting the President does not mean she isnt focused on Vermont and all that needs to be done to fix it because of the poor governance of the Democrat/Progressive super-majority. She has and will continue doing that, but she will also point to unfairness in the treatment of any Republican at any level.
