Best Place to Socialize Your Dog (08)

Starr Farm Dog Park

Winner:
Starr Farm Dog Park

Hot Dog

For the outdoor-dog enthusiast — and really, is there any other kind? — it can get "ruff" finding good spots to play with your pooch. Municipal leash laws can be a major doggie downer, even with the most well-behaved animal.

So, when it comes to raising a happy and well-socialized dog, one that won't bark all night or hump your mother's leg throughout Thanksgiving dinner, nothing does the trick like routine visits to the Starr Farm Dog Park.

Located in Burlington's New North End, the "bark park" is a large, leash-free zone for dogs large or small. Unlike similar hound hangouts, Starr Farm is fully fenced, offering free poop bags, tap water, kiddie pool (in the warmer months) and easy access to the bike path and lake.

Other furry friends can almost always be found there, regardless of the time of day. Admittedly, the cluster of critters dwindles whenever the mercury drops below 10 degrees, but the place is a veritable zoo after a heavy snowstorm.
