Wonderful article...my grandfather purchased our cabin in the 1930's and added onto it during World War II...my mother was a New York schoolteacher and my sisters and i spent our summers on North Shore Road in the 1960's and 70's. I am glad to hear the town finally came up with a one size fits all approach to the lease and land situation but saddened that many folks ( like my parents ) felt they could not afford the constant raising of rates in the 80's and 90's and were forced to sell their cabins. For many years, it felt as though Charlotte residents considered all of us " summer folk " as rich people to exploit and yet it's only now after so many of those cabins have been purchased at much higher prices by new families can that be said with more certainty...
