Playing House
Nashville’s SIMO recorded their latest record, Let Love Show the Way, at the Big House in Macon, Ga. — aka the shared home of the Allman Brothers in the late 1960s and early ’70s. The influence of that legendary space is obvious — not the least because guitarist JD Simo played Duane Allman’s famed 1954 Les Paul on every track. The record is a throwback to hairy southern rock and British Invasion pop, cut with a chaser of psychedelia and blues that evokes a definitively timeless air. SIMO play on Sunday, May 8, at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington with songwriter Owen Campbell.
