James Clarence Quebec, age 72 years passed away Tuesday November 4, 2014, after a short illness.

He was born in Saint Albans on June 20,1942, the son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Mitchell) Quebec. A lifelong parishioner of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary he received his formal education at Saint Anne's Academy and served the parish as an Altar Boy. He faithfully served his country for eight years beginning with the United States Army and continuing in the Vermont Army National Guard.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Swanton and worked at Vestshell Vermont for 22 years for his employer and friend, Mr. Kurt Valenta. He was also associated with Vermont Precision Tools for three years prior to his retirement which he greatly enjoyed. Jim spent 20 years involved with local scouting, was a ten year veteran of Missisquoi Valley Rescue and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council #7669. He was well known and loved throughout the community.

At the Church of the Nativity Jim Married his wife Eva (Root) Quebec on October 5, 1963, and together celebrated 51 years of marriage. He was devoted to his family always putting them first and thought each day was a special blessing and an opportunity to raise their two children, Tammy Lynn Quebec Gemmell and Christopher Quebec.

His loving and devoted daughter, Tammy predeceased Jim in 2005. He leaves behind his loving wife, Eva and granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Gemmell of Swanton; his son, Christopher James and daughter-in-law, Samantha (Zweeres) Quebec; granddaughters Shannon and Samantha and grandsons, Christopher and Jeffrey Quebec of Hudson, Florida. He also leaves behind his sister, Judy (Quebec) and her husband Gary Lyman of Dunellon, Florida and nieces, Kristin and Michelle.

Through his many community involvements Jim made dear and special friendships, some lasting from his boyhood. The measure of Jims life is seen in the depth and quality of these friendships. He was a steadfast friend who treasured and greatly appreciated those friendships, "You know who you are".

During Jim and Eva's marriage of 51 years, their love for each other grew stronger and deeper which enabled them to face each new day as a renewing of their lives together.

Eva is very grateful for the love and support you have shown especially through these difficult past two months.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by Full Military Honors will be celebrated Monday, November 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will take place later at the Quebec family lot in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Monday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
