Obituary: Ronald Clee Whitesell

Ronald Clee Whitesell, 79, passed away Friday afternoon July 12, 2013, at his Alburgh Springs home.

He was born on February 4, 1934, in Washington, DC, the son of the late Clee and Virginia (Davidson) Whitesell.

Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Joan Tremblay of Alburgh Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Lasko of Woodbridge, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lisa Whitesell of Stafford, VA and, his son and daughter-in-law, David and Severina Whitesell of Stafford, VA.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Gregory and Kelly Ames, Holly, Thomas, Jordan, Emily and Clee Whitesell and one great grandson, Andrew Sylvester-Ames.

Ron served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for three years and the U.S. Army Reserve for nine years. He was employed by the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, VA as a Cartographer for over 30 years.

He was a 50 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons, belonging to Columbus Lodge No. 11 in Alburgh and Columbia Lodge No. 285 in Arlington, VA. He was also a member of Columbia Chapter No.76, Order of the Eastern Star in Alburgh.

Ron's hobbies included Corvette restoration and photography. He loved attending and competing in car shows. He belonged to Corvette Clubs and Cruise Clubs in both Virginia and Vermont.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Gifts in Ron's name may be made to the Alburgh Public Library, 16 S. Main St., Alburgh 05440 or to Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester 05446.

Without the wonderful care by Betsey and other members of the Hospice staff, Ron would not have been able to remain at home. Thank you all for everything that you have done for the both of us.
