Susan Marie Rusnak, age 44 years, a native of Swanton and more recently of S. Burlington died very unexpectedly Sunday May 19, 2013, while returning to Vermont from vacationing in California.
Born in St. Albans on February 16, 1969, she was the daughter of George and Mary (Cota) Rusnak. She graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School in 1987 and continued her education receiving in 1991 a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Clarkson University and in 1999 a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.
Susan began her career in the health services beginning with IDX and continuing until the time of her death as a Senior Software Support Analyst with GE Healthcare of S. Burlington. She was a team leader for the Health Ahead Physical Activity Element Team, directing the team to 100% certification. She was also a member of the Medical Response Team. Susan was also a certified Personal Trainer for the Aerobic and Fitness Administration as well as being certified in CPR and First Aid and since 1998 has been active in the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life in Franklin County.
Susan leaves her father and mother, George and Mary Rusnak of Swanton; her sister, Diane Szubrych, husband Steve and their daughter Alexa of Carpentersville, IL; her brother, Mark Rusnak his wife Amy and their two children Lindsay and Carly of Clifton Park, NY; her maternal grandmother, Anna Cota of Swanton as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Ida and George Rusnak, maternal grandfather, Leo Cota and her niece, Abby Szubrych.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Rusnak family lot in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
