"...according to a draft report by a legislature-commissioned task force on health care services. A lobbyist for the Vermont Health Care Association, which represents eldercare facilities, led the subcommittee that drafted the report."
The people of Vermont should be very troubled by the fact that we have lobbyists leading a *legislative-commissioned* task force and writing the resulting report to the legislature to inform policy and budget decisions. The Vermont legislature is too chummy with lobbyists. Lobbyists are paid to represent certain interests. They have a role and a voice in Montpelier but should not be treated like legislative or governmental staff or cabinet-level advisers presenting facts, ideas and recommendations in the best interest of the people of Vermont. Lobbyists represent the best interests of the organization(s) paying them. That's their job. That fact needs to remain front and center.
